Ice Cream Inc. is a free food-centric mobile video game that allows you to become an ice cream master. Developed by TapNation, Ice Cream Inc. is a simple enough game to play, as you just have to swirl some ice cream onto a waiting empty cone and match it to the picture of what the order looks like. This game challenges your image-matching skill and patience to get that perfect swirl.
We scream ice cream
When it comes to ice cream, you can have it in a myriad of ways. This tasty cold dessert is pretty versatile since it can be formed in various shapes depending on its consistency. You can have the classic scoop that can be stacked on a cup, a cone, or even other food items like a cake, a cookie, and a tall glass of soda. Ice cream scoops can also be paired with toppings or syrups in a sundae or parfait.
If you want a sharper shape, you can also mold ice cream into bars or cold sweet sandwiches. Ice cream can even be deep-fried by encasing a scoop into sliced bread. For the less chunky version, there’s the soft-serve ice cream, which can be piped and swirled onto a cone for a convenient and easy-to-eat snack. Lots of virtual food games have this type of ice cream and here in Ice Cream Inc., you get to practice your swirling instincts.
Swirl it!
Starting up Ice Cream Inc. shows no main menu at all. After the developer is shown, you begin right away and the only tutorial given to you indicates where to press and hold in order to swirl out ice cream. There are three different-colored buttons to push near the bottom of the screen, indicating the different flavors available to you in the level. On the left side of the screen is a small picture of an ice cream cone model that you need to copy for the customer.
The ice cream automatically swirls onto the cone so what you actually have to do is learn to hold and release the button at the right time in order to get the number of layers for every order. Releasing the button doesn’t necessarily mean that the ice cream will stop coming down, only that the ice cream machine will cut off the swirl of soft-serve that it had been producing—meaning that if you release too late, another layer might get started and get points deducted off your work.
Whenever you finish a cone, you can choose to accept the coin rewards or double it by automatically decorating with toppings after you watch an ad. By level 11, you can hold down two flavors to mix them. The game also has a cone collection that lets to get new cones by buying them with gems you earn every 5 levels. You can also buy store decorations with the coins you earn.
Relax with the silence
Contrary to its simple gameplay, Ice Cream Inc. is a relaxing game to play because of the swirling action you can watch again and again. However, it lacks a lot to be fulfilling. There are no music or sound effects whatsoever, for one. You can’t choose the store decorations. Plus, even tapping the non-ad option to continue to the next level triggers an ad. Ice Cream Inc. is nice but it could do better.
